Advertorial
It’s Christmas – and to spread ‘even more festive cheer’ Liverpool BID Company has decided to nominate not just one, but three, very special organisations for its December Business of the Month.
Aloft Liverpool, Novotel Paddington Village and Sedulo – and two particularly outstanding members of staff – have all been highlighted for the work they do, and for going above and beyond for the benefit of others and the city!
Beth Locke, engagement manager for Liverpool BID, says they all deserve a round of applause.
Lisa Graham at Aloft Liverpool
Lisa, who won Green Business Champion in BID’s Mystery Shopper Awards last month, is passionate about climate action and sustainability, always looking for the chance to boost action through her work. She helps to promote sustainability initiatives within Aloft, involving other members of staff and acting as a point of contact for those wanting to take green action.
Lisa introduced Too Good To Go within the food and drink outlets, to help reduce food waste for unsold food. The app allows you buy and collect ‘Magic Bags’ of this food – at a great price – so it gets eaten instead of wasted.
She has also introduced a new incentive allowing guests to add an additional supplement to their day delegate rate, cost per wedding guest, or even as favour, to offset their carbon footprint while traveling to and from Aloft Liverpool.
The cost per person is £1.27pp and through it and Aloft’s partnership with GiftTree, each participant gets to plant a life-changing GiftTree.
Howard Lewis and Novotel Liverpool Paddington Village
Howard also won a Mystery Shopper Award in November (Community Spirit) amid huge credit for the impact he’s made since starting at Novotel last January.
He supported the Build a Book campaign and Bernie’s Boat of Hope – Liverpool entrepreneur Bernie Hollywood’s amazing project which shines a light on the importance of mental health and well-being in young people following his successful solo row across the Atlantic – as well as the 2023 Planet Pack campaign launched in September.
In November he undertook a gruelling trek across the Sahara Desert to raise funds for the city’s Nugent charity, to create a multi-gym at its secure children’s home for children between 10-18 who are vulnerable, traumatised and disadvantaged.
Sedulo
Accounting firm Sedulo, organises an annual Christmas Toy Appeal to provide less fortunate children with a sack of presents for Christmas. They provide 10 presents for each child and support 450 children within the Liverpool city region.
The Sedulo Foundation is also a registered charity working with local partners to bring positive change to the communities they work in and is committed to creating its own direct interventions and bringing tangible change to those who need it most.
Beth says: “We’ve worked with so many amazing companies this year, both existing businesses and those who are new to the city and Liverpool BID Company.
“And we look forward to continuing this into 2024, and highlighting those who go above and beyond to create a positive impact and support the city to thrive.”
