Liverpool Cathedral earns Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award 2024

Liverpool Cathedral has achieved yet another remarkable milestone by winning the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award for 2024.

This prestigious accolade is awarded based on reviews and ratings from travellers worldwide visiting Liverpool Cathedral from the past year.

The Travellers’ Choice Award is given annually by Tripadvisor to recognise the favourite destinations, hotels, restaurants, and attractions as voted by real travellers. Based on a year of reviews and ratings, the winners highlight the most memorable and positively reviewed experiences shared by global tourists.

The Very Revd Dr Dean Sue Jones, Dean of Liverpool, said:

As the Cathedral marks its centenary year, this award adds to the celebrations of its rich history and cultural significance. Although the construction of this iconic building began in 1904, it was officially consecrated in 1924.

The design, conceptualised by the then 22-year-old architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, has withstood the test of time, surviving two world wars, and was completed in 1978.

Liverpool Cathedral is more than just an architectural marvel; it is a vibrant community hub and home to extraordinary artwork and annual events.

Welcoming over 500,000 visitors annually, it stands as the largest cathedral in Britain and the fifth largest in Europe. It also houses the largest pipe organ in the UK.

Situated 500ft above sea level, Liverpool Cathedral offers visitors the unique Tower Experience, providing 360º open-air views of the city and access to The Bell Chamber.
