Communities across Liverpool will unite for an evening of music, poetry and activism at St George’s Hall as the city takes a stand against racism.

Taking place on Saturday 17 May at 7pm, Liverpool Rising Against Racism will bring together artists, campaigners, trade unions and local people for a night of solidarity, creativity and powerful storytelling. The event sends a clear message: racism has no place here.

In a time when division and hate can often dominate headlines, this event is about coming together – celebrating the strength in Liverpool’s diversity and supporting those who challenge racism every day. Taking inspiration from the Rock Against Racism movement of the 70s, it’s a call to action powered by music, words and community.

The line-up features a mix of well-known artists and rising local voices, including:

  • Skinnyman – a pioneering name in UK hip-hop
  • Blue Saint – award-winning rapper, poet and activist
  • Amina Atiq – acclaimed Yemeni-Scouse poet and community organiser
  • PJ Smith (Roy) – writer and performer from Toxteth
  • Sam Millne & the Virants – rising Liverpool band with a genre-blending sound
  • Ship Builders – local favourites with a huge following

The night is part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of Writing on the Wall’s WoWFEST and is supported by Love Music Hate Racism and trade union partners from across the country.

Liverpool City Council is backing the event as part of its ongoing commitment to promoting inclusion and tackling discrimination. The event also comes as the council launches a city-wide consultation on Liverpool’s Anti-Racism Strategy – a chance for residents, workers and students to share their views on how to make the city more equal and inclusive for all.

Liverpool Rising Against Racism is set to be a night of connection, courage and creativity – one that reflects everything Liverpool stands for.
