Liverpool company nominated for national TV Award

Liverpool’s independent film and TV company LA Productions is celebrating after being nominated for a national TV award for its hit BBC drama ‘Moving On’.

The series is up for the Best Daytime Programme at the Royal Television Society (RTS) Programme Awards for its episode ‘Invisible’ in series nine.

The episode puts the spotlight on Rachel, a mother of two, who must confront her former teacher who abused her as a child after remaining silent about the incident for decades. Throughout the 45-minute episode, viewers witness the struggles that she and her mother, Pat, face after never reporting the abuse to the police.

Filmed in May 2017 in and around Sefton Community Learning Service in Seaforth, it first debuted on BBC One in February 2018.

The episode was directed by Julia Ford and written by Jodhi May who also starred. Other actors featured include Sinead Cusack and Paul Hilton.

Colin McKeown, producer at LA Productions said: “Moving On always tells the hardest-hitting stories that resonate with its audience. In all the years that we’ve made the show, we’ve never shirked away from bringing powerful storylines, such as Invisible, on to the small screen.

“It’s a real accolade for a local company to be nominated for this national award and testament to the fantastic cast, script writers and crew who helped produce this wonderful piece of television.”

Moving On recently celebrated its tenth season and has attracted an incredible roll call of actors in its tenure, drawn by stellar scripts, many written by first-time writers.

Stars like Sheila Hancock, Neil Morrissey, Joanne Froggatt, Ian Hart, John Simm, Hayley Mills and Samantha Bond have all starred in the TV show.

Invisible will go head-to head with other daytime shows including ‘Murder Mystery and My Family’ and ‘The Repair Shop’ at a glamorous ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on March 19th.

The RTS Programme Awards honours excellence across all genres of television and recognises exceptional actors, presenters, writers and production teams, as well as the TV shows themselves.
