Liverpool Fashion School Opens Its Doors To Aspiring Designers

On 3rd July, Rare School of Fashion (RSOF) is opening its doors to the public to showcase the work of its students and give those aspiring to start a career in the fashion industry the opportunity to quiz its resident experts and mentors, and find out more about what the school has to offer.

Launched as an extension of registered charity Rare Studios in 2015 by Shaun Kearney, previously Vice President of athleisure brand Fabletics – co-founded by actress Kate Hudson and features celebrity ambassadors such as Demi Lovato and reality TV star Louise Thompson – and now working with Gwyneth Paltrow’s wellness brand Goop, the school was set up to provide a gateway into the industry for young people faced with a lack of opportunity. It has places for 25 students with an eye for fashion, design or merchandising to unlock their potential. With a strong emphasis on business and online fashion retailing, RSOF is the first of its kind outside London and provides hands-on opportunities for the North-West and further afield.

This year, one hundred percent of RSOF’s students applying for higher education secured a place at some of the UK’s top fashion schools, including Northumbria University, the University of Westminster, London College of Fashion and De Montfort University, to study fashion-related courses.

Lindsay Inglesby, director at Rare Studio, said:

“We have some fantastic talent at our school of fashion and these open days are a chance to showcase that as well as to encourage aspiring designers, merchandisers and creators to apply.

“The city has so many young fashion devotees, but there seemed to be a lack of opportunity. That’s why we opened RSOF. We want it to be a powerhouse of young, fresh industry talent: a place recognised for its originality, authority and quality.

“We’re incredibly proud of all that our current cohort has achieved and for one hundred per cent of those that applied to higher education to have secured a place at some of the country’s top fashion schools is no mean feat.

“We want people considering applying to Rare School of Fashion to know that to make it in the world of fashion, it doesn’t take a huge amount of money – just passion, drive and determination.”

The RSOF open day takes place on 3rd July at Rare Studios on Madison Square.
