Liverpool FC bring Premier League trophy to Marie Curie’s Woolton Hospice

11/08/2020

Liverpool FC brought the Premier League Trophy to Marie Curie’s Woolton Hospice on Monday morning to give Marie Curie’s Doctors, Nurses and staff the chance to get their picture taken with the trophy.

The visit was to thank the staff for their hard work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Diane Barker, Hospice Manager said:

“We were thrilled to welcome Liverpool FC and the Premier League Trophy to the hospice today.  This event was such a huge morale boost for all our staff after such a difficult few months. We would like to say a sincere thank you to everyone at the club for making this happen”.

Linda Morgan who is a patient at Marie Curie’s Woolton hospice said:

“It was a big surprise to see the trophy at the hospice this morning, I’m over the moon! My son and my grandson are going to be very jealous!”

Forbes Duff, Red Neighbours Manager at Liverpool FC, said:

“It was a pleasure to take the Premier League trophy to Marie Curie’s Woolton Hospice as part of our local community mini-tour.

“It’s really important for us to share our success with the key workers, who are the real heroes that have shown such strength, determination and courage throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

“We hope that our visit demonstrates our sincere gratitude as well as adding a little boost to their day.”

Marie Curie Nurses, doctors and hospice staff are on the frontline, caring for dying people and their loved ones, both with and without coronavirus.

The Marie Curie Hospice, Liverpool needs to raise £5.2 million every year to continue to run these essential frontline services, yet their ability to generate this money has been seriously compromised by the Coronavirus crisis.
