Liverpool FC teams up with Nivea Men to surprise super-fan and donate delivery van to the Florrie
4 years ago
Liverpool FC has teamed up with NIVEA MEN to provide emotional and physical relief to those in need as part of its ‘Dear Liverpool FC’ content series.
This new episode is taking their joint mission of sharing the care through their partnership to a new level, providing vital community support, whilst surprising a super fan, who has been giving back to those in need, with a ‘visit’ from a star of the pitch.
With many regions across the country hit by food insecurity, the city of Liverpool has a range of local initiatives that provide support to those who are most vulnerable, carried out by a collective of brave volunteers. Lee Swan, 31, volunteers at the Florence Institute, helping distribute food and hot meals to deprived areas of the city, with over 1,200 food parcels delivered during the pandemic.
For first time NIVEA MEN has taken the series beyond surprising those in need, by donating a delivery van to the ‘Florrie’, enabling Lee and the team to continue delivering hot meals to those in need. The care will be shared further, with a package of NIVEA goodies being donated with every meal Lee serves.
Liverpool FC and NIVEA MEN wanted to recognise the outstanding work that Lee has done and what better way to surprise a devoted Liverpool fan, than a tour of the iconic Anfield stadium. Guided virtually by Liverpool FC star, Sadio Mane, Lee was given the once in a lifetime opportunity to grace Anfield’s hallowed turf and score a goal at the Kop End.
Anne Lundon CEO of The Florence Institute says:
“We are so grateful to NIVEA MEN and Liverpool FC for donating the van to the Florrie to support all the work we are doing helping us to deliver around 1,000 hot meals and 350 special food hampers in the lead up to Christmas.
“Lee is a fantastic volunteer and means so much to The Florrie and the whole of the community. We’re overjoyed and so thankful to Liverpool FC & NIVEA MEN for making Lee’s dream come true”
We met the team @TheFlorrie to talk life in lockdown and what the future holds for the charity and community hub.
