Liverpool GIANTS: Watch all the highlights from Day 2 of the Giant Spectacular

What an incredible day of street theatre we’ve enjoyed on Merseyside.

Liverpool Giants certainly know how to put on a show, from cheeky Xolo taking a leak on the streets to the Little Boy Giant busting moves on Princes Road and a Giant man wowing the crowds at the seaside in New Brighton. Generations of families, friends and visitors have truly seen an unforgettable spectacle.

The eyes of the world have been on our city streets as the Liverpool Giants Spectacular played out on both Wirral and Liverpool. Both ‘Princes Park’ and ‘Little Boy Giant’ were trending throughout the day and these are the best social media posts that captured the action, as it happened.

Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson said: ” We’ve got people here from the Isle of Mann, Ireland, all over the country, the hotels are packed, the shops, it’s a huge boost for the economy here, not just in Liverpool, but the region.

“We are a tourist destination, a global brand, that makes people want to come here. We’re estimating visitor numbers over the four days of 1.4 million.”

Crowds gathered at St George’s Plateau and New Brighton’s waterfront hours before the Little Boy Giant, Xolo the Dog and the Giant Man woke and began to roam the region’s streets. Hundreds of local school children lined Princes Road and Princes Park with lovingly made picnic blankets to welcome the giants to the leafy L8 suburb.

Over on Wirral, the Giant Man was met with thousands of fans, tonnes of excited kids and a musical truck as he wandered the coastal road. Tired from his ordeal he caught 40 winks on the famous clown roundabout before enjoying a horizontal view of the Liverpool skyline.

After a siesta at Princes Park (with bellies full of scouse) the giants made their way to the waterfront, via Duke Street, where Xolo the cheeky dog made friends with some BT workmen, took a closer look at a couple of bus stops and made some more four-legged friends.

Joining the Friday commute, Xolo and the Little Boy ended their second day in the city at Queens Wharf, tucked in with a bedtime story. Seeing so many people line the city streets and in particular, so many children experience this amazing event for the first time, has been the best part of our day. So many unforgettable memories!
