Liverpool International Horse Show is back for 2018 telling up with this amazing charity
4 years ago

A partnership between the inspirational charity WeMindTheGap and the Liverpool International Horse Show was announced this week.
The charity helps under-served young women in local communities by giving them new opportunities in life and at work.
‘This is not about CV-writing workshops and tea and toast for poor unfortunates…or ticking boxes… This is about delivering real and lasting change for young people who deserve better. This is social mobility in action.
Neglect, broken homes, a challenged education system, a complex benefits system and third generation workless households have culminated in a generation of forgotten young women with few aspirations or opportunities.’
We Mind the Gap ran their first traineeship in Liverpool in 2018 in Speke with the support of The Mayor’s Fund and The Albert Gubay Charitable Trust. The success of the programme is evident with 70% of the trainees ending up in fulltime work or education.

Working with Nina Barbour and the team at the Liverpool International Horse Show will enable WeMindTheGap to launch their 2019 traineeship and offer some amazing opportunities to ten more young women in the city of Liverpool. The joint plan will involve the trainees with the activities of Bolesworth Events LLP who are the promotors of the Liverpool International Horse Show and who also present the Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show which takes place on the Bolesworth Estate in June.
Nina Barbour, Show President comments ‘I feel very strongly that we must work to improve the lives of young people. Being able to offer our support to WeMindTheGap and to young women living in Liverpool will be our way of giving something back to this amazing city who have been such an incredible support to us. Today is only the beginning of what we are going to be able to do to ensure that the 2019 trainees are able to find their place in employment or in education’
Rachel Clacher from the Charity is also delighted to be partnering with Nina and her team ‘Working with the Bolesworth team across all of their events is an exceptional opportunity for our trainees. Nina is a truly inspirational figure in the world of equestrian sport and her dedication to her sport and to creating world class sporting events will give our trainees from Liverpool the chance to develop a relationship with an incredible role model and mentor’.
