Liverpool LGBT+ choir celebrates its tenth anniversary in style
5 years ago

Rainbow Chorus, Liverpool’s only LGBT+ choir, is celebrating its tenth anniversary in style this year with a special event at the Unity Theatre.
The choir have received lottery funding in order to hold an anniversary event aimed at bringing the community together, and putting homophobia in Liverpool under the spotlight.
In celebration of their commitment to working together with the community, the choir have invited 20 volunteers to form an “on the day” scratch choir. Led by musical director Mersey Wylie, they will perform alone and also together with the Liverpool Rainbow Chorus – led by musical director Max O’Hara – as part of the concert.
In addition to the music, the choir have also invited local young people from schools and community groups across Merseyside to enter an art contest; creating posters that depict LGBT+ culture over the last decade and promote a culture of acceptance and diversity in Liverpool. A selection of art work will be displayed in the Unity Theatre on the night of the concert and will then be displayed in The Brink on Parr Street from 27th May to 1st August.
