Liverpool ONE enlists hundreds of talented young people for its Christmas celebrations
1 year ago
For the first time ever, Liverpool ONE has teamed up with local schools to help launch the festive season
Hundreds of talented youngsters from across Liverpool City Region are set to officially kick-off Christmas at Liverpool ONE as part of a brand new festive extravaganza.
Plans have today (Thursday 7 September) been revealed for an evening of non-stop music, singing and dancing as the retail and entertainment destination prepares for Liverpool ONE Christmas Live! on Friday 17 November.
In a first for Liverpool ONEâs festive celebrations, the event will showcase the talents of hundreds of local schoolchildren and community groups as they perform across multiple stages, helping to spread yuletide cheer as Christmas swings into action.
Jaw-dropping aerial performances, magical pop-up pantos, as well as the chance to grab those all-important selfies in front of a series of festive light installations will complete the line-up.
Plus, the much-loved all-singing, all-dancing elves from The Hammond School, will make a return for the evening, ensuring everyone is well and truly in the party spirit.
To mark the launch of the project this week and, as part of a special Eurovision legacy, the Liverpool Empire Creative Learning team will deliver a Christmas-themed workshop to 30 Year 3 pupils at Ranworth Square Primary School in Norris Green.
Over the coming months, the Empire team and professionals from the theatre industry will work closely with schoolchildren of all ages from 20 schools across Liverpool, Wirral, Knowsley, St Helens, Warrington, Halton and Sefton, alongside the Liverpool Empire Youth Theatre Academy, to create a number of performances created exclusively for Liverpool ONE Christmas Live!
Natalie Flynn, Senior Creative Learning Manager at The Liverpool Empire Theatre, said:
âWeâre thrilled to be partnering with Liverpool ONE this Christmas to celebrate family, magic, wishes and dreams, which are such important elements of the festive period.
âHelping young people in our community unlock their potential is a true passion of mine and I can’t wait for us to share everything we have in store this Christmas!â
Also making its return this year is the much-loved Bar HĂźtte, which will be located on Chavasse Park underneath the giant Christmas tree.
From cosy karaoke hĂźttes and a party lodge, to an alpine bar serving delicious winter warmer cocktails, beers and wines, Bar HĂźtte at Chavasse Park, Liverpool ONE is set to be a must-visit attraction for families and groups of friends alike.
Bar HĂźtte will also be hosting wreath-making sessions, âMovie Sundaysâ, a festive âAfter School Clubâ and sensory classes for the very first time this year.
Callum Winsper, Operations Manager at Bar HĂźtte, said:
âWe are thrilled to be bringing Bar HĂźtte back to Liverpool ONE once again, for our seventh year. The festive karaoke and private hĂźttes seem to have become a staple for Christmas in the city and we are so proud to be a part of this.
âWeâre delighted to be pride of place at Chavasse Park, and canât wait to welcome groups, colleagues, couples and families in just a few monthsâ time.â
As part of the countdown to Christmas at Liverpool ONE, there will once again be light installations and Christmas choirs performing across the estate, plus a 25-metre Christmas tree taking centre stage on Chavasse Park.
And, with more yet to be announced, the festive season is shaping up to be the best yet at the retail and entertainment destination.
Donna Howitt, Place Strategy Director at Liverpool ONE, said:
“Christmas time, especially the countdown, is always an incredibly special time at Liverpool ONE and across the wider city.
âFor the first time, we are thrilled to be welcoming onboard local young people to be part of our celebrations and showcasing their amazing talents. Our launch night is a real centrepiece in our calendar but, this year, it feels even bigger and better.
âVisitors will have a chance to experience some of the cityâs best performing talent from a strong line-up of winter shows and pantomimes. And, thereâs still more to reveal, which we canât wait to announce in the coming weeks!â
