Liverpool ONE has launched a new campaign to help families in need this Winter

Liverpool ONE is set to lend a helping hand to families struggling with the cost of living crisis this Christmas, with the launch of its new ONE More campaign. 

The campaign, which is a first for the retail and leisure destination, gives local people and visitors the chance to donate and support families who are facing financial difficulty this winter, helping to fund hot meals, gifts and support with the cost of living crisis this winter. 

Working in conjunction with the Community Foundation for Merseyside (CFM), Liverpool ONE has teamed up with charities across Liverpool City Region to ensure the widest and quickest distribution of donations. 

Six charities have been earmarked for support, with organisations across Liverpool, Knowsley, Wirral, Sefton, Halton and St Helens being included.  

Criteria for selection included a high level of expertise, as well as the ability to directly impact the communities in which they are based, and are equipped to distribute both toys and food to families this winter quickly. 

Among the charities involved is Kirkby-based youth centre Centre 63. Cheryl Roach, Business Development Manager at Centre 63, said:

“We would like to say a huge thank you for thinking of Centre 63.  

“We have so many families struggling at the moment so this is amazing to have this additional support to provide to our community.” 

Other charities included in the campaign are:  

·       Liverpool – Liverpool Six Community Association  

·       Halton – St Paul’s Church  

·       Knowsley – Centre 63

·       Sefton – St Leonard’s Youth & Community Centre 

·       St Helens – The Hope Centre 

·       Wirral – North Birkenhead Development Trust 

Rae Brooke, Chief Executive at Community Foundation for Merseyside, said:

“We are really grateful to be working with Liverpool ONE this winter on the ONE More campaign, to drive much-needed funds to charities and community organisations across the region who are best placed to quickly deliver vital support to struggling families amid the cost of living crisis. 

“We have already seen an increase in demand for local charities’ services as many families struggle to make ends meet and deal with the added pressure of Christmas on the horizon, so this campaign will make a real difference to local people’s lives and hopefully help ease some of that financial strain.” 

The ONE More campaign is now live, with donations being taken online and via text message.

“We are calling on visitors to support the ONE More campaign, so that those who can afford to support others struggling this Christmas, can do just that. Donations will be distributed to several charities across Liverpool City Region so that they can continue to provide vital services to vulnerable communities across the city region.”

“We’re proud to be working alongside the Community Foundation for Merseyside and are confident that our visitors will do what they can to help this Christmas and during the rest of winter.”
