Liverpool is gearing up for a huge weekend as thousands of people head into the city this Saturday 26 July to celebrate Pride and soak up everything the city has to offer.

Merseyside Police has been working closely with organisers and local businesses to make sure everyone can enjoy the day of Pride in Liverpool safely and head home with nothing but good memories.

Chief Inspector Dave Morgan said:
“Liverpool is known for its warm welcome and this weekend will be no different. We’re expecting big crowds coming into the city centre to see the sights, join events and celebrate Pride together.

“Our number one priority is to keep everyone safe and make sure they have the best time. You’ll see lots of our officers out and about on patrol. There’s no need to be worried if you see more police than usual — it’s just part of how we keep things safe and running smoothly. Alongside our uniformed teams, we’ll have plain-clothes officers and city-wide CCTV to help spot and stop any trouble before it starts.”

With sunshine on the cards for Saturday, people are being reminded to come prepared for the weather, drink responsibly and look out for each other.

“Keep your valuables close, don’t leave bags or phones unattended and plan your journey in advance,” added Chief Inspector Morgan. “There will be road closures around the waterfront and Pier Head so public transport is your best bet if you’re heading into town. Give yourself plenty of time so you’re not rushing — and don’t forget to enjoy it.”

Pride celebrations are taking place across Merseyside too, with officers on hand at all major events to make sure everyone feels safe and supported.

Anyone who spots something suspicious is urged to trust their instincts and tell a police officer or member of staff straight away. For non-urgent issues call 101 — and if there’s an emergency, always dial 999.

So if you’re heading into town for Pride this weekend, get ready to celebrate, stay safe and enjoy everything Liverpool does best.
