Liverpool restaurant Amalia wins ‘Best Pizza In England’ for the third time
1 year ago
The ‘Best Pizza In England’ has been confirmed at the 7th annual English Italian Awards and a Liverpool restaurant has been confirmed as the winner.
The multi-award winning Amalia, having just celebrated its 10 year anniversary, has now won the award for a record 3rd time after also winning in 2016 and 2017.
The ‘hidden gem’ restaurant, nestled away in Campbell Square just off Duke Street and Hanover Street, has picked up an eye-watering number of awards since its conception. The latest ‘Best Pizza In England’ award is testament to its quality and consistency over a long period of time — with 5 star reviews continuing to flood in.
Amalia has won ‘Best Pizza In England’ for a record third time, adding to their awards of Best Team in England and Chef Of The Year in the English Italian Awards — one of the most recognised awards in the UK hospitality industry. The latest award was announced at a prestigious ceremony held at The Queens Hotel in Leeds.
Following on from the success of The Scottish Italian Awards and founded in 2015, The English Italian Awards are said to be one of the toughest hospitality awards to win. The English Italian Awards are completely impartial and independent — backed by big sponsors such as Angelo Poretti, Worldpay, S.Pellegrino and others.
The awards pride themselves in being the fairest contest in the country, handing power over to the people who really matter — the general public. People are asked to vote for restaurants in various categories, before a panel of esteemed independent judges visit restaurants to assess them.
Amalia’s pizzas are loved by many for their thin bases and soft, doughy crusts — with The English Italian Awards judges selecting theirs as the best in the country for a third time in 7 years of hosting it. Also available on their menu are starters, pasta, seafood, burgers and delightful Italian desserts. The restaurant has a popular lunch offer of a pizza or pasta dish plus a drink for just £10.95 Mon-Fri 12pm-5pm.
Co-Founder Miguel Queipo said:
“I can’t state enough how much this means to us as an independent restaurant. I must say a huge thank you to all our staff, customers and the general public who voted for us. We’ve retained our title as having the best pizza in England but that doesn’t mean we’ll be getting complacent — in fact we’re going for more awards!”
On 8th November, Amalia are competing for title of Best Pizza In The UK at the UK Italian Awards — an accolade that will further cement their reputation as one of the best Italian restaurants in the UK. With the awards now in double figures, this ‘hidden gem’ of a restaurant off the beaten track continues to enjoy huge success no matter what difficulties the industry faces.
