Liverpool Sleepout is Back for the Fifth Ultimate Night Out
5 years ago

Liverpool Sleepout is back, for the ultimate night out on Friday 12 October 2018. Now in its fifth year, The Whitechapel Centre are hoping to get even more people to join them in the larger location at St James in the City Church, close to the Baltic Triangle.
The event opens at 7pm and there will be entertainment and prizes awarded for the Best Cardboard Shelter, Best Onesie Best Individual Fundraiser and Best Team Fundraiser before everyone beds down for the night.
Over the past four years, hundreds of people have taken part in The Liverpool Sleepout, all raising sponsorship for The Whitechapel Centre! The money raised will help the charity continue helping vulnerable people who are homeless find safe accommodation and support them into reaching their full potential. As well as offering the opportunity to raise vital funds for the charity’s work, there is an important message behind it too. It will give those involved some insight into the vulnerability someone may face whilst sleeping on the streets.
Ruth McCaughley, Fundraising Manager for The Whitechapel Centre says:
“We are incredibly excited about our fifth Liverpool Sleepout. What’s really wonderful about this event is anyone over 18 can sign up. We’ve had people of all ages and backgrounds sleeping out – some with a team from work, groups of friends, and even people braving the night on their own!
Homelessness is something that can happen to anyone, so it’s absolutely brilliant to see people from across the city pulling together to make a difference. In the past few years we’ve seen a rise in the number of people who are homeless in Liverpool and the money raised is essential to help The Whitechapel Centre continue to provide support and accommodation.”
The Liverpool Sleepout takes place at St James in the City Church on Friday 12 October. On the night people will be sleeping outside in a safe area, with stewards and access to toilets and refreshments. Participants must be age 18 or over and sign up in advance. The registration fee is £10 per person and all participants are asked to raise sponsorship for The Whitechapel Centre.
