The 146th Open Championship is returning to Merseyside for 2017, and Royal Birkdale is busy preparing for the event. Matt Jones talked with Royal Birkdale’s Head Professional, Brian Hodgkinson, to find out more.
Royal Birkdale will host The Open for the tenth time in 2017. The last time the Championship was played there was in 2008, when Ireland’s Padraig Harrington won by four shots from Ian Poulter. 2017 will be the 10th time the championship has taken place at Birkdale, and the club has a busy 5 months to get themselves ready for the global event.
