Liverpool storytellers bring characters to life for National Storytelling Week
5 years ago

Authors will bring to life their characters at a free National Storytelling Week event in Liverpool.
Well-known Liverpool author Jude Lennon will be joined by fellow writers Jennifer Jones, Leonie Roberts and Imelda Summerton West for the event at Wigwam Coffee Shop, Rose Lane, Mossley Hill, on January 26.
Each year, National Storytelling Week events are held across the country to celebrate all types of stories, from fairy tales or folk legends to fantasy and horror.
This year the week takes place between January 26 and February 2, with the aim of promoting the tradition of oral storytelling.
And writers will be bringing their favourite characters off the page and into the room by reading from their storybooks.
Children and adults will be able to hear exciting stories about the Dragon of Allerton Oak; Markus Moldewarp, a confident mole who has adventures with his sidekick worm, Quigley; a colourful chameleon who keeps hiding from his owner; and Bloofusan elf who catches bad dreams.
Their books will be available to buy (cash only), with a percentage of sales going towards Liverpool Open and Green Spaces community interest company, which recently funded a legal campaign to prevent luxury homes being developed on the Harthill Estate at Calderstones Park.
Further details of the event are available via Facebook.
The event takes place between 1pm and 2.30pm at Wigwam Coffee Shop, 70 Rose Lane, Liverpool L18 8AG on January 26.
