Liverpool Theatre School graduate reaches the next stage of BBC1’s ‘Little Mix The Search’

Liverpool Theatre School is celebrating after graduate, Melina Halpin, made it through to the next round of BBC1’s Little Mix The Search.

Crosby performer, Melina, secured a place in one of the bands after impressing Little Mix with her audition, which aired on the show 27 September. 

Little Mix The Search features Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock as they audition for band members, select and mentor their favourite groups and help them battle it out to win the contest. The winning band will support Little Mix on their nationwide tour.

Maxine Ellis, Principal at Liverpool Theatre School, congratulated former student, Melina, on her success. She said:

“Melina has been part of the Liverpool Theatre School family since she was three years old, training at our junior school before going on to graduate with a diploma in professional musical theatre from our full-time college.

“She’s always been hugely talented and it’s been a real pleasure to see her blossom into such a brilliant performer. Her audition was incredible on the show last night and everyone at Liverpool Theatre School is extremely proud of her achievement. We wish her all the success in the world and we’ll be behind her every step of the way as the bands battle it out on the show.”

Melina, who found her passion for the stage at Liverpool Theatre School, said:

“I took my first dance steps at Liverpool Theatre School and I honestly think that’s where my love of performing first started.

“Maxine is like my ‘dance mother’ and she’s always been such a big influence on me as a performer. The support and guidance I was given at Liverpool Theatre School has been invaluable, from the days when I landed a part in the UK tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as a very young performer to my latest success in getting through to the next round of Little Mix The Search. Bring on the live shows, I can’t wait!”

Liverpool Theatre School provides full-time training in dance, musical theatre and acting. The centre of excellence, located near the city’s Baltic Triangle, offers BTEC and Trinity College London accredited training, as well as evening and weekend classes for young performers from the age of four to 16.
