Liverpool will host its final Beach Volleyball tournament of the season in Crosby Beach on the 17th of July.
Matches will begin at 9:30 am and admission is free. The courts will be located in front of the Crosby Leisure Center and the expectations are that the games will be played throughout the day with finals happening at 4:00 pm.
The Crosby Beach Series is presented by Everton Volleyball. The event features 24 teams from all over the country, with 12 teams in the women’s category and 12 teams competing in the men’s category. Prior to that Everton Volleyball has already hosted two other events this Summer as part of this series, a men’s and women’s tournament in May and a mixed tournament in June, which were both sold out.
Lili Molnar is a nutritionist from Hungary living in Liverpool for over 5 years and has played volleyball all her life. Lili recently came as a runner-up with fellow Hungarian partner Virag Farkas at the Yorkshire Series hosted in Bridlington Beach earlier in the Summer and has won both ladies and mixed tournaments in previous Crosby series events.
“I’m really excited to watch the final tournament on Saturday. The other events were full of energy and a great atmosphere and I can’t wait for the next one. It is such a boost for all the volleyball players in Liverpool to have a high-level competition hosted close to home” said Molnar.
The tournaments in Crosby have drawn a lot of attention with passersby on the beach and quickly got support from local businesses such as restaurant Yogee Treats and lifestyle store The Slower Space. “We are happy to support the event and happy to see it turning out a success. We love to support the community and to see our local athletes shine in the competition” said Sean Kelly, owner of Yogee Treats.
The Crosby Beach Series was the first official beach tournament organised by Everton Volleyball with the purpose of establishing regular beach volleyball competitions in the North West and fundraising to support the club throughout the indoors season starting in September.
Chairwoman of Everton Volleyball, Valeria Romero said:
“We are delighted with the success of the beach tournaments. As a new club we are very excited to see the interest from the Liverpool and Sefton community and can’t wait to see volleyball grow even more in the North West”
This will be the last Beach Volleyball tournament hosted by Everton Volleyball in Crosby this Summer but the indoor season will start in September and will be hosted at Litherland High School.
