Liverpool Voi e-scooters surpass six million rides saving on carbon emissions
4 months ago
People in Liverpool have now taken more than six million rides on Voi rental e-scooters and e-bikes since the service launched in October 2020.
Over 300,000 people have signed up to use the Voi e-scooters and e-bikes, making them a staple in the city’s transport landscape.
According to Voi’s externally-validated carbon calculator, trips on the company’s e-scooters and e-bikes in Liverpool have replaced an estimated 2.6 million short car journeys.
The use of e-scooters and e-bikes instead of cars in Liverpool has saved the city from nearly 1,200 tonnes of harmful carbon dioxide emissions – the equivalent of over 144.6 million smart phone charges.
Data from the most recent rider survey in Liverpool reveals that 35% of riders used Voi for their commute to work or education, with 26% using them to travel to and from social engagements and 16% using them for errands and shopping.
Over a third of riders combined their ride with a journey on public transport.
Nearly 50% of riders said they used an e-scooter or e-bike to make a journey which was previously too long, too expensive or not accessible.
James Bolton, general manager, Voi UK, said:
“Since we started operating in Liverpool nearly four years ago, e-scooters and e-bikes have become an essential part of many residents’ lives.
“Many people rely on them to get about the city – and make full use of the discount passes available for students, NHS and blue light workers and people on low incomes.
“It’s great to reach another milestone in supporting people in Liverpool to choose a safe, affordable and sustainable method of transport in the city.”
This year Voi launched its top-of-the range new model of e-bikes in the city.
