Liverpool welcomes two brand new community markets this August
3 hours ago

August is set to be a busy month for Liverpool’s markets – with two new locations joining an ever-growing offer.
Dovecot and Norris Green will host markets for the first time and join regular community markets at Allerton Hall and Lark Lane over the coming weeks.
The new events further confirm the council’s commitment to enhancing the current offer, supporting local traders and providing markets that not only appeal to residents, but also become must-visit attractions for visitors spending time in the city.
New markets for August are:
- Sunday 24 August – Liv Fest, Dovecot Park, Pilch Lane, L14 7QJ – 11am-4pm
In partnership with the Olivia’s Butterfly Foundation and local neighbourhood teams, the day will include rides, inflatables, dance performances alongside a 20-stall market featuring local traders selling a range of products including cakes, woodwork, clothing and much more.
- Sunday 31 August – Norris Green Community Market at Ellergreen Lifestyles Centre, L11 2XY – 10am-4pm
Featuring around 20 stalls showcasing some of the best local traders including sweet treats, clothing, accessories and more, as well as community stalls and activities.
Shoppers can also come along to the returning markets later in August:
- Saturday 23 August – Lark Lane L17 8UN – 9am-2pm
- Saturday 30 August – Allerton Hall Farmers and Craft Market, Springwood Avenue L25 7UN – 11am-4pm
Liverpool City Council has developed an extensive markets offer – ranging from the weekly markets at Great Homer Street and the award-winning Stanley Park, to seasonal markets at St George’s Hall and pop-up casual and farmers markets in several community locations.
The council is also seeking to invest £5m to expand the offer at Great Homer Street.
Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture Health and Wellbeing, Councillor Harry Doyle, said:
“This approach is all about looking at what events are taking place in communities across the city, and seeing how we can incorporate our brilliant markets within this.
“We have a really strong markets offer, but we know from talking to traders and customers that there is always the appetite for something new and fresh, and creative ideas can only improve what we currently have.
“Last year we saw the huge success of Stanley Park Market which has now become a regular fixture in our calendar, and the introduction of new pop-up Christmas markets in the city centre was also very well received. By testing out these new markets, it gives a great sense of what people want, and we’ll be keen to hear feedback from everyone involved so this can help shape future programmes.”
