Liverpool’s biggest battle of the bands is back – and it’s bigger than ever
22 hours ago

Hosted at Jacaranda Baltic and run by the team behind Jacaranda Records, the grassroots champions behind one of the city’s most iconic venues, the battle of the bands is back for a second year – and it’s promising more acts, more prizes, and more boss live music all summer long.
The battle of bands kicks off on Friday 4 July, Warriors of Rock will take over Jacaranda Baltic for five weeks of heats, two semi-finals and a grand final on Saturday 30 August – all of it totally free to attend.
That’s right – no tickets, no fees, just pure, live music every week from up-and-coming bands hoping to make their mark.
The winning band will take home £1,000 cash, a headline slot at a future Jacaranda Records event, and a recording session with Grammy-nominated producer John Withnall – whose credits include Coldplay, Elbow and The Script.
The idea behind it is simple: give local bands a proper platform, and give music fans a summer full of quality gigs without breaking the bank.

“This isn’t about ticket sales,” says Jacaranda Records MD Graham Stanley. “It’s about the music. We want to discover the next great Liverpool band – and give the people of this city a summer soundtrack they’ll remember.”
Anyone aged 16 and over can enter, as long as the band can perform four songs. Applications are now open here.
Jacaranda Baltic has quickly made a name for itself as a go-to venue for rising talent and intimate gigs, with recent sets from big names like Travis, Kaiser Chiefs, Wunderhorse and Crawlers.
Now, with Warriors of Rock, they’re giving local bands the chance to join that list.
So if you’re in a band, this could be your shot. And if you’re just into discovering fresh music, keep your Fridays free – this one’s going to be loud.
