Liverpool’s Royal Court appoints Kate Haldane as new chair
1 month ago

The Royal Court Liverpool Limited, which oversees Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre, has officially confirmed Kate Haldane as the new Chair of the Board.
To mark International Women’s Day, Kate was pictured alongside Royal Court Chief Executive Gillian Miller and many of the women who work behind the scenes to bring the theatre’s productions to life.
While some staff members couldn’t attend due to rehearsals, set building, and other essential theatre roles, the gathering highlighted the strong female leadership shaping the venue’s future.
Kate Haldane takes over from Chris Pavlou, who has stepped down from the role.
Kate Haldane helms Kate Haldane Management, a new literary-light-entertainment agency, representing writers for tv, film, theatre, radio and award-winning broadcasters.

Speaking about her new role, Kate said:
“The Royal Court is a vital part of the cultural makeup of Liverpool, and a bit of an unsung hero of theatre. Not content with producing new writing year in and year out that plays to packed houses of happy, laughing people, it does the most amazing community work.
“There’s the Summer School, the Youth Theatre, the Community Choir, and their Variety Club lunches—unbeatable nuggets of joy and warmth. It’s amazing, and I am so proud to be able to offer it all the support I can as the new Chair of the charitable board.
“I’m really looking forward to working with the brilliant team in the theatre to make sure it keeps going and keeps getting better.”
Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre continues to be a driving force in the city’s cultural scene, known for its bold productions, grassroots engagement, and unwavering commitment to community projects.
With Kate Haldane now leading the board, the theatre looks set to build on its legacy and continue bringing top-quality entertainment to audiences across the region.
