Liverpool’s Royal Court to double up as bingo hall in new comedy Bingo Star
2 years ago
This spring, Liverpool’s Royal Court is bringing you a comedy with a twist. Laughs, 80s music… and live bingo with cash prizes!
Bingo Star is a brand new show set in a faded Bingo Hall in Liverpool. The future of the hall is in danger as a new shopping centre is being planned. During the show, there are three games of bingo for the audience to play along with and they can win £50 in each game.
The show stars Helen Carter, Paul Duckworth, Paige Fenlon, Jonathan Markwood, Alan Stocks and Keddy Sutton. It is written by Iain Christie and directed by Emma Bird.
Arthur has been running Bingo Star for the last fifty years. People might talk about change but he likes things just as they are thank you very much. They perfected bingo in the fifties and music in the eighties so there is nothing more to be done.
Arthur’s family and friends know that the club is in trouble but, as if in answer to their prayers, a man from the council arrives with plans for a brand new shopping centre to be built right outside. The future is looking bright, what could possibly go wrong?
Iain Christie, writer (and also Head of Marketing at the theatre), is hoping for a full house:
“This is a really exciting show and I’m delighted to be working with such a great cast and director. Bingo Star should be a really fun night out for everyone, and three lucky audience members will be going home with £50 in their pockets! It’s selling really quickly so grab your dabbers and book your tickets.”
Bingo Star is on stage at Liverpool’s Royal Court from 10 March – 8 April 2023 and you can book tickets here.
