Local community groups invited to apply for share of £11,000 in new funding

Grassroots projects across the Liverpool City Region are being encouraged to get their applications in as the ACC Liverpool Group Foundation opens its latest round of community grants.

A total of £11,000 is up for grabs this time round, with grants of up to £1,000 available for local groups working to tackle inequality and hardship within their community.

The Foundation is particularly keen to hear from projects that support LGBTQ+ communities, minority and underrepresented groups, refugees and asylum seekers, music projects, and organisations helping people facing food poverty and the rising cost of living.

Groups based in Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral can all apply, with the money aimed at giving smaller initiatives the boost they need to make a real difference close to home.

Last year’s funding helped to support everything from warm spaces and free meals for families to community food cupboards, forest school sessions for adults with ADHD, music and dance groups for LGBTQ+ communities and women, and extra help for refugees and migrant families. It also backed creative programmes for young people and neurodiverse adults and practical help for those struggling with food poverty and isolation.

Kerry Villa, COO at the ACC Liverpool Group and Chair of the Foundation, said:
“We’re really proud to stand behind the incredible work of so many grassroots groups across our region. These grants are all about giving communities the support they need to create positive change and tackle challenges together. We can’t wait to see what ideas and projects this next round of funding will help bring to life.”

Groups have until Wednesday 6 August to apply online via the ACC Liverpool Group Foundation’s website.

Applications will be reviewed by the Community Foundation for Merseyside, with final decisions made by a panel of ACC Liverpool Group staff. Successful applicants will hear back within two weeks of the panel meeting in mid-September.
