So many special guests have been announced to take part in that special concert at the Echo Arena, marking the end of Liverpool’s highly acclaimed exhibition of The Jam, About the Young Idea
It takes place at Echo Arena Liverpool on Wednesday 5 October, legendary presenter Janice Long will host the night which will see The Jam bassist, Bruce Foxton, perform alongside:
More acts will be announced in the run up to the concert.
The gig celebrates the end of the About The Young Idea exhibition which has been on display at the Cunard Building since July and explores the music, background, political and social impact of The Jam. The final day of the showcase is Thursday 6 October.
Tickets for A Celebration of The Jam are £45 and available from the Echo Arena online box office www.echoarena.com/acelebrationofthejam. A percentage of ticket proceeds will go to local charities including Be One Percent and Impact England.
Nicky Weller who is organising the concert and co-curated the exhibition, said: “There is a real buzz around the gig and we’ve had a great reaction from artists who want to be part of this special concert.
“We’re so pleased with how the exhibition has been received in Liverpool, and this concert very much feels like us giving something back to the fans. It will be a great night packed full of hits from The Jam which is sure to be a crowd pleaser.”
About The Young Idea is the second exhibition Nicky and fellow curators Den Davis and Russell Reader have developed dedicated to The Jam, after a smaller version took place at London’s Somerset House last summer. Nicky was the founder of The Jam fan club which she set up when she was a teenager.
Tickets for the exhibition in the Cunard Building cost up to £9.50, with discounts at off-peak times. Tickets can be purchased from www.nicetimeinc.com.
