LVP 3×3 basketball tournament returns to Liverpool ONE for its biggest year yet
1 day ago

Liverpool ONE’s Chavasse Park is getting set for three action-packed days of sport, music and community spirit as the UK’s biggest free 3×3 basketball tournament returns this month.
LVP 3×3, created by Toxteth EL8TE CIC and supported by Merseyside’s Violence Reduction Partnership, is back for its third year from Friday 30 May to Sunday 1 June — and it’s shaping up to be the most exciting event yet.
The free tournament is part of a wider mission to create safe, positive opportunities for people across Merseyside, using sport as a way to connect communities and support young people.
Throughout the weekend, Chavasse Park will host open coaching and mentoring sessions open to all ages and abilities, giving everyone a chance to build confidence, learn new skills and get involved in the game.
More than 60 teams will compete in back-to-back tournament matches across the weekend, with categories from under-12s to adults. It all leads up to a high-energy final on Sunday afternoon.
Since launching in 2023, LVP 3×3 has grown into one of the biggest open-access basketball events in the UK. Last year, over 100 teams and 460 players took part, drawing thousands of spectators across the weekend. Entry remains completely free — helping to remove barriers and make sport accessible to everyone.
This year, the tournament is teaming up with the LIMF Academy, Liverpool’s award-winning talent development programme for young music creators. Expect live performances, DJ sets and late-night sessions from the newly announced 2024/25 LIMF cohort, adding another layer of culture and creativity to the weekend.

Whether you’re a basketball fan, a music lover or just looking for something different to do over half term, LVP 3×3 offers a full-on celebration of sport, music and community in the heart of the city.
Emile Coleman, co-founder of Toxteth EL8TE, said:
“Each year, the impact of LVP 3×3 grows — not just in numbers, but in how deeply it connects people. What started as a tournament has become a real platform for change. With new partners, more young people involved and the city behind us, 2025 is set to be our biggest and most meaningful year yet.”
Kate Gilston, project manager at LIMF Academy, added:
“We’re really proud to be supporting Toxteth EL8TE by showcasing some of the most exciting emerging music artists and DJs. Music is such a big part of basketball culture, so this partnership makes total sense.”
Merseyside Police Commissioner Emily Spurrell said:
“We’ve seen the power of basketball to bring people together, and I’m proud to support LVP 3×3 once again. This tournament not only gives young people a chance to get involved in something positive — it’s helping build stronger, safer communities.”
Debi McAndrew from the Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership added:
“This isn’t just a weekend tournament. It’s the result of year-round dedication from Toxteth EL8TE, providing mentoring, support and real opportunities for young people. We’re proud to be part of something that’s making such a lasting difference.”
Donna Howitt, place strategy director at Liverpool ONE, said:
“We’re delighted to welcome LVP 3×3 back to Chavasse Park. This event is a brilliant celebration of accessibility, talent and local pride — and we know our visitors will be blown away by what’s on offer.”
LVP 3×3 is supported by Liverpool ONE, Concordia Clinic, WEDGE Collective, Nothin About The Music, LIMF Academy, Elite Portal and the MVRP.
