Make this Christmas even more magical with three Great Liverpool Shows
2 years ago
Advertorial
GET ready to join in a round of applause, because the curtain’s set to rise on Christmas.
The festive season’s here and it’s bringing with it the chance to see a trio of fantastic shows in theatres across the city.
So when you’re planning the party season and sorting out celebrations with family and your mates, don’t forget to leave a few dates free so you can book seats at one of the amazing productions that will get us all in the Christmas spirit.
The three Great Liverpool Shows are The Scouse Sleeping Beauty at the Royal Court; Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World at The Playhouse, and Dreamgirls at the Liverpool Empire.
They’re part of a ‘Great Liverpool Shows’ initiative being driven by Liverpool BID Company to make sure ‘Liverpool feels like Christmas’, promoting all the fab festive activities that are going on this year.
And when last December was a bit of a damp squib with most of us greeting the season from our sofas, it feels better than ever to get back out there.
We’ve missed the magic of live performances – and the opportunity to share them with the people we love – so Liverpool’s theatres are going all out with these spectacular shows.
So which will it be? (Although feel free to book all three!).
Royal Court Theatre – The Scouse Sleeping Beauty
On from now until Friday, January 15, 2022
Once upon a time there was a land so beautiful it was almost good enough to be a World Heritage Site and over the last 18 months times had been hard as folk were not allowed to leave their homes unless they had lots of money…
As always, expect lots of laughs, live music and utterly inappropriate content. This is not a Christmas panto for the kids, so treat yourselves to a babysitter and get ready for a great night out with your girly mates or your nearest and dearest.
Playhouse Theatre – Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World
Wednesday, December 8, 2021 – Sunday, January 2, 2022
Check out this brand-new ‘kickass-pirational’ pop musical from the producer of SIX. A stage adaptation of suffragette descendent Kate Pankhurst’s award-winning picture book, join heroine Jade as she goes behind the scenes at the not-yet-open Gallery of Greatness in her local museum and meets original wonder women: Frida Kahlo, Rosa Parks, Amelia Earhart, Marie Curie and Emmeline Pankhurst, to name a few.
Liverpool Empire – Dreamgirls
Tuesday, December 14, 2021 – Saturday, January 1, 2022

Surely no-one will be telling us that ‘they’re not going’ to this?! You’ve seen the film, now catch the amazing stage production in which three talented young singers – The Dreams, aka Effie, Lorrell and Deena – try to hit the big time in the ‘60s.
It’s a rollercoaster journey through the world of fame, fortune and the realities of showbiz, and you can prepare to be wowed with classic songs like I Am Changing, One Night Only and … And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.
