‘Choose your own adventure’ with this Unity Theatre show happening over the weekend

This weekend, an immersive ‘choose your own adventure’ theatre show is taking over Liverpool’s Unity Theatre – and it’s all powered by kids’ wild imaginations!

The award-winning Rubbish Shakespeare Company has teamed up with the Silly History Boys to bring you The Story Forge: Make Your Own Myth, a laugh-out-loud, high-energy adventure packed with clowning, physical comedy, silly storytelling, and live music. This isn’t just a show you watch, it’s one you help create and it’s coming to Unity Theatre on Saturday!

Expect a fast-paced, family-friendly spectacle where two larger-than-life history professors and a live musician guide the audience through three brand-new myths: the origin of a local place, the legendary tale of a random donated item, and an epic hero’s journey, starring one lucky audience member as the next big legend.

Ever wondered who the God of dog poo bags is? Or what ancient crime led to the creation of Marmite? Greek? Viking? Something totally bonkers? Who knows! Every show is completely different, with new myths forged fresh from the brilliant (and sometimes chaotic) minds of the audience. And there will be a lot of cardboard props.

Bringing their signature ‘Theatre for All’ ethos, Rubbish Shakespeare Co. have designed this show to give children a chance to shape new stories – inspired by the classics but completely original every time.

Artistic Director Lee Hithersay says:

“It’s been an absolute blast! The kids completely steal the show every time – and we love it! Seeing them light up on stage, totally owning their own stories, is just magic. This is hands-down one of the most fun and rewarding productions we’ve ever done.”

Liverpool’s Unity Theatre will host two performances on Saturday 5th April at 11:30am and 2pm as part of a massive UK tour, featuring 74 performances across 43 venues. The tour also includes 35 creative workshops, inspiring kids to craft their own stories with fun activity packs.

Limited tickets are still available via the Unity Theatre website here.
