Mark Thomas, the acclaimed alternative comic often dubbed the ‘godfather of political comedy,’ is set to hit the road this autumn with his latest stand-up show, Gaffa Tapes.
Known for his unique blend of stand-up, theatre, journalism, and occasional performance art, Mark Thomas has been a trailblazer in comedy for nearly four decades.
Mark is back to his finest stand-up form and anti-Tory sentiment in Gaffa Tapes as he sets out on the road this autumn.
For those unfamiliar with Mark’s work, he has won eight awards for his performing arts, three for his human rights work, and even created an award for himself.
He is renowned for his groundbreaking television series, including six series of The Mark Thomas Comedy Product and three Dispatches for Channel 4.
Mark has also contributed to radio with five series of The Manifesto for Radio 4. His literary work includes five books and four play-scripts, and he has collaborated with artist Tracey Moberly on two art exhibitions. His versatility extends to the stage, having been commissioned to write a show for the Royal Opera House.
His activism is equally impressive. Mark has successfully forced a politician to resign, influenced changes in laws concerning tax and protest, and even holds the Guinness World Record for the most protests within 24 hours.
He has challenged the police in court three times—winning each case—and has a fourth in the works.
Mark’s new show, Gaffa Tapes, promises to deliver the incisive wit and thought-provoking commentary that have defined his career.
