Itās got to be up there as one of the most unusual club events of the year so far, but it also looks like being an amazing night.
Not only will both mayors be showing off their DJing skills, theyāll be supported by home and away teams of singers, presenters, actors and legends including Jamie Webster and Craig Charles all trying to get the honours for their city.
And, as well as both sides being determined to absolutely smash it, the whole event is for a good cause so thereās really one big winner already.
Get February off to a fun floorfilling start ā hereās everything you need to know about the Liverpool v Manchester DJ Battle ā¦
Where is it happening and when?
Itās going to be taking over Camp and Furnace on Friday February 2, from 7pm to midnight, with the battle due to kick off at 8pm.
Whatās the idea?
This isnāt actually the first DJ battle that the two metro mayors have taken part in. Itās actually a third-time rematch between the pair. Their friendly rivalry first hit the decks online during the pandemic and then there was a follow-up in person event in Manchester in December 2022.
That one, at Warehouse Project, was a massive success and had some surprise guest DJs including the deputy leader of the Labour party Angela Rayner!
It raised more than Ā£25,000 and won Leading Live Event of the Year at the 2023 This Is Manchester Awards.
Where will the money thatās raised on the night go?
The aim of the DJ battle is to use the power of music to raise funds to tackle homelessness and end rough sleeping. Proceeds from the night will be distributed between the Liverpool City Region and Greater Manchester charities. As Liverpool metro mayor Steve Rotheram says: āItās all in aid of a cause thatās very close to all our hearts. Together, weāre showing that the North West will always stand united in support of those who need it most.ā
Who will be joining Steve and Andy in this yearās DJ Battle?
Thereās a star line-up of fellow DJs backing each mayor this time around. Getting behind the home team for Liverpool will be Jamie Webster, who releases his new album ā10 For The Peopleā on the same day, Rebecca Ferguson, The Farmās Peter Hooton and England football legends John Barnes and Peter Reid. For Manchester, Andy will be lining up alongside Blossoms, M Peopleās Heather Small, former Corrie actress Sally Lindsay, BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Nihal Arthanayake and presenter Matt White.
