Meatball Molly is starting a new free community Sunday run club

Liverpool fight legend Meatball Molly is starting a new free community run club from this Sunday, November 2.
In addition to her amazing career in the ring, Molly runs Moll & Joel’s Rolls, an Italian inspired coffee shop, bakery & deli in Garston.
Now the shop, which she opened a year ago with her best friend Joel McCarthy, is about to become the base for their latest idea.
The pair want to bring the community together by launching a Sunday morning run club for all ages and levels called Moll & Joel’s Strolls.
They’ll be supported by another mate, former WBA international super-lightweight champion turned coach and PT Tom Farrell.
Tom will be head coach for the club, helping to create different guided 5k and 10k routes every weekend.
He says it’s a great opportunity for everyone to come together in a relaxed environment, whether they want to jog with no pressure or aim for a PB.
He explains:
“I’ve known Moll and Joel for years, me and Molly both boxed at the same time as amateurs when we were younger, so they know how big I am on fitness and thought I’d be a good person to get involved.
“They put this idea to me about creating a community based around the coffee shop and having a place where people can come and meet new people and keep fit at the same time.
“The club is not just about fitness, we don’t want people to think they need to be really fit to come and do it, they can just get involved at their own pace. It’s more leisurely, that’s why it’s called strolls rather than a regular run club, and we know people will be at different stages so if they need to take a walk then obviously they can.”
Tom, who coaches and trains full-time at No Limits in the Baltic, says one of the big pluses of Moll & Joel’s Strolls is it’s free to join in.
“You don’t have to be paying for a membership and there’s no commitment so if you can’t make it one week it doesn’t matter, you come when it suits you.”
Moll & Joel’s Strolls starts this Sunday, meeting up at the shop on Long Lane for a pre-run drink from 8.30am, ready for a 9am start. The circuit routes will cover 5k and 10k, and runners can choose which they prefer, finishing back at the shop between around 9.30am and 10.15am depending on the distance.
