Mersey River Festival 2016: Incredible full lineup revealed
8 years ago

The International Mersey River Festival 2016 3-5th June, is just three weeks away and as well as announcing that we will be hosting the main stage on the Saturday and Sunday, we can also reveal this year’s sensational music line-up!
When the going gets tough only a fully-fledged musical legend will do. Luckily for us, Billy Ocean has answered the call and will be taking the helm as the Sunday headliner.
How many catchy hits can you name? Caribbean Queen, Get out of my dreams, Get into my car, Love Really Hurts Without You……oh the list is endless. His set is going to be a knock-out.
Billy said: “I’m looking forward to coming to Liverpool next month to play the International Mersey River Festival.
“Bring your dancing shoes and be ready to sing along to all my hits and more – It’s going to be a party.”
And if one legend for the weekend wasn’t enough, Saturday will see Soul II Soul wow the crowds in front of the Three Graces as the Grammy Award winning group perform some of their well-loved hits alongside R&B singer Shola Ama, soul group The Real Thing and Gwen Dickey’s Rose Royce.
Is anyone else imagining sunshine, waterfront location, few glasses of prosecco and a good old sing-along with all of your mates? Bust a few dance moves and it even counts as cardio!
Karaoke-fest or what? But wait, we’re not done! Fun Loving Criminals and 6MUSIC DJ, Huey Morgan will hit the decks to close the Friday night festivities with local favourites Clean Cut Kid, Tea Street Band, Natalie McCool, and one of our favourite bands on Merseyside right now, The Sundowners and Louis Berry also on the Friday bill and the Wack Pack are mixing it up with a bit of swing on Sunday. How many legends are we up to now, I’ve lost count?
Our very own Jay Hynd is gearing up to host the main stage on the Saturday and Sunday and is looking forward to being at the forefront of the action for The Guide Liverpool.
Jay said: “I’m super excited to be hosting the main stage once again, what an incredible line-up the festival has brought to the city!”
“If Soul ll Soul don’t leave me star struck then Billy Ocean certainly will! There’s no denying that Liverpool is at the forefront of the music scene and no city does more to make gigs and festivals accessible to everyone, it’s going to be a brilliant weekend!”
We’ll be bringing you regular updates over the next two weeks with all the info you need to plan a belter weekend at the International Mersey River Festival 3rd-5th June, 2016.
