Merseyrail to support Cunard Queen Anne celebrations

Get ready for a spectacular celebration at Liverpool’s Cruise Terminal on Monday, 3 June, as Cunard officially names its new liner, Queen Anne.
Thousands are expected to flock to the Pier Head to to take part in the Cunard Queen Anne celebrations for a day filled with entertainment and excitement, and Merseyrail is there to support your travel.
Merseyrail services will ensure people have a safe and quick journey to and from the event.
A normal timetable will be in operation throughout Monday 3 June. In order to ensure customers’ safety, James Street station will be closed from 18:30. Customers wishing to travel from Liverpool to Wirral after 18:30 should use Moorfields station instead.
Customers should be aware that escalators to the Wirral platform at Moorfields are not in service. People who require the use of escalators should take a train from Moorfields to Liverpool Central via the Northern line, where they will be able to use the escalator to the Wirral platform.

“The naming of this incredible new ship from Cunard is sure to be a fantastic occasion on the waterfront.
“We are anticipating that there will be many thousands of people who want to be part of this historic moment. It’s important that we put customer comfort and safety first, so we have put a special plan in place to ensure this.
“Trains travelling into Liverpool from Wirral after 18:30 will also not stop at James Street, so customers arriving after that time for the evening should alight at either Moorfields or Liverpool Central.
“Customers returning from the event on the waterfront should make their way to Moorfields station or Liverpool Central.
“It will be a really special day for Liverpool’s waterfront, and Merseyrail is proud to be playing our part in helping everyone to enjoy it.”
