Merseyside’s biggest lip sync battle returns to Camp and Furnace raising money for Shelter

On Wednesday 20 July, Merseyside’s biggest lip sync battle will take place at Camp and Furnace, in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle, to raise vital funds for the housing and homelessness charity Shelter.

This iconic event, based on the popular LL Cool J TV series Lip Sync Battle, will see contestants take to the stage to strut their stuff and mime hits from the likes of Rihanna, Tina Turner and Ricky Martin.

Hosted by The Guide Liverpool’s  Jay Hynd, it is set to be an entertaining night of performances. Each act will be choreographed, rehearsed, and performed with professional backing dancers from The Hammond.

Taking to the stage will be Billy Baldwin of Sutcliffe Engineering, Chloe Hughes from Aaron Jones Hairdressing, Jon Golding from Crossword Recruitment and Orlando Tirelli, the viral bus stop dancer, among others, including Shelter staff. Doors open at 7pm with the performance starting at 8pm and an audience vote will crown the winner.

More than 12,500 people in the North West, including more than 5,500 children, were officially recorded as homeless at the end of last year. This includes people sleeping rough on the streets and families living in temporary accommodation.

Funds raised from this year’s Lip Sync Battle will help the charity’s frontline services to continue providing free and expert help to anyone facing homelessness in Merseyside and beyond, as well helping to campaign for lasting change.

Pauline Cox, Regional Community Fundraiser for Shelter Merseyside, said:

“Lip sync battle is set to be a spectacular evening of entertainment in support of Shelter. By coming along to the event, the community will be helping Shelter to be there for people whose lives are on the line.

“Thousands of people in the North West are homeless, many are families with children. Shelter’s work to fight the housing emergency, and provide practical help and advice to people, is vital. Our emergency helpline is open 365 days a year so that no-one has to face homelessness alone – but we cannot continue to do this without the amazing support of the public and our partners.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who is taking part in the lip sync battle, and to Camp on Furnace for providing the venue, on what promises to be a fun filled, showbiz night.”

Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm, tickets are £10 each from www.sheltermerseyside.org.uk
