MIB’s 2019: How a Liverpool Law Firm celebrates local & Independent Business, every year
5 years ago
The Merseyside Independent Business Awards returns for its 7th year of celebrating the best local businesses and their people. Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s MIB Awards.
The Rum Warehouse at Titanic Hotel will welcome the cream of the local independent business crop on Thursday 10th October for the MIB Awards 2019. The Merseyside Independent Business Awards returns to celebrate and showcase the best local independent businesses, their people and supporters
Founders of the MIB’s Morecrofts Solicitors, kick started the annual event back in 2013 as a way to mark the highly respected law firms 200th year as an independent business. The MIB’s as they’ve become known – is attended by hundreds each year as Morecrofts awards the most deserving businesses in a host of different categories.
When planning the inaugural awards, Morecrofts made a pledge to ensure the event was as affordable as possible so that businesses of all sizes could attend. The MIB Awards remains a non-profit making platform and the 2019 event is fast approaching a sell out!
On the night, hosts Ellie & Roger Phillips hand out awards such as Trades Business of the Year, Culture & Tourism Business of the Year and Retailer of the Year, with one lucky nominee being crowned the overall Independent Business of the Year 2019.
Previous winners include Everyman & Playhouse Theatres, Ghetto Golf, Belzan and Suites Hotel & Spa which picked up three awards including the overall Merseyside Independent Business of the Year accolade.
Morecrofts Managing Partner, Alison Lobb said: “A lot of people think we sponsor the MIB Awards but actually we run the event. We created the vent 7 years ago as part of our 200th birthday celebration.
The benefits it (MIB Awards) can bring can be amazing. Even just being shortlisted for something, that extra profile, getting your name out there. Some of the supporters and sponsors of the MIB Awards can give you a bit of a leg up in your business – or just meet new people to work with.”
The Guide Liverpool has been nominated for Best Independent Creative Business for the third year. We’ll be joining other nominees on the night such as The Liverpool Gift Gallery, Knowsley Safari, Delifonseca, Bongo’s Bingo, Bacaro, Vincentius, Tusk Baltic, Hi-Impact Media, Pinion and more. The likes of Kate Stewart, Matt Farrel & John Ennis from Graffiti Spirits and Nicola Pink of Pink Media will battle it out to be named Business Person of the Year.
We’re sure everyone else is as chuffed to bits and excited as us to have made the shortlist. We can’t wait to get dressed up to the nines and head to Titanic to celebrate. See the full  2019 shortlist here.
Morecrofts stays loyal to its promise to provide a platform for all types on independent business. So much hard work goes into organising and running the MIB Awards and the thrill of a nomination or a win is something to truly treasure.
