Miles Kane and Dave McCabe delight audiences with surprise performance

Two of Liverpool’s favourite musicians delighted fans last night with a surprise performance together in the city.
Miles Kane was joined onstage by Dave McCabe of the Zutons at the first of two nights of gigs at The Arts Club for the solo star.
Kane is currently on the road with drummer Jenny Walinetski in what he calls a “sweaty UK club tour”.
After an energetic hour of new songs and old favourites like Inhaler and Don’t Forget Who You Are, Wirral born Kane thanked the crowd.
He said:
“When I started doing this 20 years ago, I loved bands like The Coral and the Zutons.
“So, I texted Dave McCabe a few days ago and asked him if he’d join me on stage in Liverpool tonight to play You Will You Won’t, and he said yes.”
Kane took up the bass guitar for the song and the crowd joined in with the track which was a hit for the Liverpool band in 2004.
And showing a nod to the future of music as well as the past, Kane then brought on his support act Ellis Murphy to accompany him on harmonica for final song of the night, crowd favourite Come Closer.
It brought to an end a masterclass in live performance from Kane and Walinestski. There might have only been two musicians on stage but with clever use of multiple mics and guitar looping, the sound was immense.
“We’re loving our White Stripes vibe,” Kane joked about the line up and the crowd agreed.
With a slowed down acoustic middle section of the gig featuring old favourite Colour of the Trap, the gig was a showcase of Kane’s best songs from a career that has seen him front The Rascals and join Arctic Monkeys Alex Turner in The Last Shadow Puppets.
He has also enjoyed massive success with solo albums Colour of the Trap, Don’t Forget Who You Are, Coup de Grace, Change the Show and One Man Band and he showcased songs from all the records during the gig.
Kane was on top form, with great vocals and guitar work and shows no signs of slowing down. If you don’t have any plans for tonight there are still tickets available for tonight’s second show at The Arts Club.
You won’t be disappointed and if you are lucky, you might even get a special guest appearance from McCabe.
