Miss Liverpool to launch Lockdown’s Got Talent to raise money for local charity
4 years ago
The newly crowned Miss Liverpool is calling upon her fellow TV talent show finalists to raise money for a Liverpool charity this month.
Poppy Gerrard, who earned the coveted Golden Buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent as part of Wirral dance group Mersey Girls in 2017, has put together ‘Lockdown’s Got Talent’, a variety show that will premiere on Youtube on Saturday March 27th.
The show will feature a host of well-known talent show stars and celebrities, including Dancing On Ice winner and I’m A Celeb… runner-up Jake Quickenden, as well as BGT finalists, comedian Daliso Chaponda and magician, Jamie Raven.
Anyone who buys a ticket to the show will also get the chance to win either a Liverpool shirt signed by Trent Alexander-Arnold or an Everton shirt signed by Toffees legend, Pat Van Den Hauwe, in a live and interactive quiz to end the show.
All proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the Miss World charity, Beauty With A Purpose, and Liverpool charity, Mandela8, of which Trent Alexander-Arnold is a patron.
Poppy, who will go on to represent the city region in the Miss England competition later this year, will also host the online spectacular, and said ahead of the event:
âI am beyond excited to be the organiser of Lockdownâs Got Talent, raising money for two incredible charities which are close to my heart. Being from Liverpool and performing there all my life, it was really important to me to give something back to the fantastic city, so I was really happy to collaborate with Mandela8 and support their Roots and Wings community programme, which helps young people who lack positive role models and are at risk of criminal exploitation or violent crime.
I am also excited to be raising money for Beauty with a Purpose, as itâs at the heart of Miss England. Being a dancer and actress, I canât wait to celebrate the arts and put on a show which will entertain those who are feeling alone in Lockdown. I have called on a few of my celebrity friends from when I was a dancer on the show Britainâs Got Talent, and the line-up we’ve got is spectacular.
I am also a big football fan so Iâm ecstatic to be involving the two leading Merseyside clubs as well. Join us for a ânight with the starsâ!”
The online show will also feature Radio City presenter, Leanne Campbell; operatic star, Sophie Clarke, from BBC One’s All Together Now; martial artist and stunt performer, Jesse Jane McParland; and So You Think You Can Dance and West End star, Robbie McMillan.
Lockdown’s Got Talent will premiere at 7pm on Saturday March 27th 2021 on Youtube. Tickets to watch the show are ÂŁ10 and can be bought now from Skiddle, with all proceeds going to charity.
