Montirex aims to ‘break the wall’ around mental health across Liverpool with new campaign
6 months ago
Montirex, the fast-growing sportswear brand, has chosen Liverpool as one of the locations to kick off a new campaign to help tackle mental health issues among young men.
In support of CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), Montirex is installing ‘pop-up’ football goalposts in key cities.
On 26th June, goalposts will be temporarily painted onto a wall in Liverpool and accompanied with a QR code that takes users to Montirex’s Break the Wall website where users can find advice and information and can become a CALM supporter.
Millions of people enjoy sport as a way to build friendships and to bring positivity into their lives.
The Montirex installation uses football as a tool to break down the walls that exist around mental health in young men, encouraging mates to check in on each other when they come together to play, watch and enjoy the sport.
The Liverpool installation is at 3 Kings Dock St, Liverpool L1 8JU.
As well as Liverpool, Montirex will be rolling out the campaign in London, Birmingham and Dublin in the coming days. To support the launch, Montirex has launched a campaign video.
Partnering with Content Creator Ryan Hall who is backing the Montirex project. He said:
“Mental health is really important, especially in today’s world with social media. There’s nothing worse than thinking that you’re on your own; it’s a nasty, isolating experience, and just talking can really help.
“I think there’s a lot of stigma around how men should be, and that pressure can be tough to handle. So, when Montirex approached me to be involved in this campaign, I couldn’t say no.
“A lot of us have faced mental health issues, whether personally or through someone we know. Anything we can do to encourage people to open up and share their struggles is definitely worth it. I want to encourage everyone to check in on their mates and support each other more. The meaning of this campaign is so powerful, and I’m proud to be a part of it.”
Montirex was founded in Liverpool by friends Kieran Riddell-Austin and Danny Yuen and it has enjoyed spectacular success since its first products were launched in 2019.
Montirex, in support of CALM, is using football as a way to get young men to show up and check in with each other. This was an idea that first came up in discussions between founders Kieran and Danny.
Danny explains:
“Mental health is a huge challenge for young people and CALM does great work in getting support to people who need it.
“If our campaign gets more young men talking to each other and breaking down the walls that exist around mental health, we’ll be proud to have played a small part in tackling those issues.”
The Montirex Break the Wall goalposts will appear in the Liverpool location on 26th June and will stay in place for one month.
