More names added to the Folk on the Dock lineup

 

Also announced to perform at Albert Dock’s new folk festival are contemporary folk acts The Lost Brothers (August 27) and Laura J Martin, who makes her Liverpool homecoming (presented by Bido Lito! on August 28) – and award-winning British singer/songwriter, Blair Dunlop. They join an already incredible line-up that includes The Christians, Henry Priestman, Gilmore & Roberts, Alasdair Roberts Trio, Tom Kitching, John Loomes, Merry Hell, Winter Wilson, ex-Bellowhead member Benji Kirkpatrick, and Sam Winston.

  

A new commission, part of the Albert Dock Liverpool 175 strategy, and supported by Liverpool City Council, Folk Festival on the Dock will bring together the city’s rich music and maritime heritage in an exuberant celebration of live acoustic folk, sea shanty and roots music over the August bank holiday weekend.

“Likewise, it’s exciting to add some more local talent to the line-up. The Lost Brothers honed their sound in Liverpool during the city’s explosion of musical creativity in the mid-noughties alongside such bands as The Coral and The Zutons. Laura J Martin hails from Maghull, and recently recorded her third album, On The Never Never, in Nashville, which was a hit with critics and fans alike. Both acts are intrinsically linked to the city and causing a buzz in the international folk music arena.

“Blair Dunlop is one of Britain’s most exciting talents to come from the folk scene in recent years, and his second LP, House of Jacks, gained critical acclaim and even won the BBC Radio 2 Horizon Award. He will undoubtedly be a huge draw at the festival.”
