Mowgli Dog Show raises over £100k for Claire House Children’s Hospice
1 year ago
Following 2022’s success in raising over £70,000 for Claire House Children’s Hospice, founder and CEO of Mowgli Street Food restaurants, Nisha Katona, brought back the annual fundraiser, for the charity and the families it supports.
Nisha said: “Having a compassionate clarity of purpose is key to keeping motivation and zeal in running a business. Mowgli’s purpose is simple and clear: She exists to enrich lives in the city she goes to. To raise money for places like Claire House is the reason for our existence and nothing less. The reason I built a charitable event around dogs is because personally I have seen that the unconditional love and loyalty of a dog can give someone nothing less than a reason to live.”
Having raised over £1.5million for local charities, charitable giving sits at the heart of the business and enables Mowgli to give back to each of the communities she serves.
The charitable event took place at Claremont Farm, Wirral, on the first weekend in June and welcomed up to 8,000 visitors. Hosted by Jonny Bongo of Bongo’s Bingo and Adam Weighell of Heart Radio, there were 10 competitions, including fancy dress and child’s best friend. The event showcased some of the North West’s finest independent food and drink vendors, local craft businesses, not to mention, professional agility demonstrations and a funfair.
Dan Halliday, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Claire House, said:
“The Mowgli Dog Show is such an amazing event for Claire House to be a part of. Not only does the astonishing amount of money raised mean that we can provide vital care to more children and families in our community, but it also gives us a great opportunity to engage with thousands of people…spreading awareness of what Claire House is all about and how important our work is”.
“The Mowgli Dog Show brings together Merseyside’s best two and four-legged families together under a blue sky to celebrate the simple things in life. That for me is a glimpse of heaven” said Katona.
Across the whole weekend, the event raised over £100,000. This will contribute to the ongoing support and life-changing care for the children and families of Claire House Children’s Hospice. This vital donation equates to funding three specialist nurses for a whole year.
The Dog Show is set to return in 2024 at Claremont Farm. Further updates can be found on the Mowgli Trust website and Mowgli’s social media platforms.
