Mowgli founder Nisha Katona visits Claire House Children’s Hospice
8 months ago
TV chef and Mowgli founder Nisha Katona, and her beloved dogs, today visited Claire House Children’s Hospice to launch this year’s Mowgli Dog Show.
Nisha, who founded Mowgli Street Food and is a well-known food writer, joined some of the children and staff at the Bebington hospice. Claire House supports seriously and terminally ill babies, children and young adults, and their families, across Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales.
Nisha’s visit came exactly a month before gates open on the two-day, family-friendly event at Claremont Farm.
Dog lover Nisha said:
“The Mowgli Dog Show is my favourite day of the year.
“Today, I’ve come to meet some of the children and staff at Claire House to launch this year’s dog show.
“They’ve been doing lots of dog-themed art activities with the kids to celebrate our four-legged friends.
“Whenever I come here, I see first-hand why I launched the Mowgli Dog Show in the first place. Every penny of the profits goes to Claire House, helping families in Merseyside, which is my home turf.”
As well as painting dog pots and decorating dog plates, the children also met Nisha’s dogs Goose, Bear and Dave.
Nisha, who appears regularly on popular TV shows such as This Morning and Great British Menu, added:
“Dogs edify our busy lives with their greetings, their smiles, their unswerving loyalty.
“Dogs give the Great British lifestyle a wag of muddy, humble contentment. The Mowgli Dog Show brings everyone together, all for the love of dogs and in aid of the wonderful Claire House.”
Now in its sixth year, the Mowgli Dog Show will take place on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2.
The event offers 10 canine competitions, local food, drink, and craft stalls, alongside children’s activities, live music, and funfair attractions.
Dan Halliday, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Claire House, thanked Nisha and Mowgli for making a difference to the lives of so many children and families who need help the most.
He said:
“We were delighted to welcome Nisha, and of course Goose, to Claire House Children’s Hospice today to officially launch the Mowgli Dog Show.
“With just one month to go, we’re excited about this year’s show returning to Claremont Farm. It’s a wonderful event that brings everyone together to celebrate our furry companions and raises funds and awareness for our children’s charity.”
