Kim Johnson MP visits The Beatles Story to celebrate English Tourism Week

The Beatles Story were delighted to welcome Kim Johnson who visited the award-winning exhibition as part of English Tourism Week.

The visit was arranged in collaboration with tourism association UKinbound, which represents businesses that bring and host international visitors in the UK.

During the visit, Kim Johnson had the opportunity to meet with staff and learn more about what The Beatles Story has to offer local, domestic and international visitors. The museum also highlighted the positive impact it has on the local economy and community.

This year’s theme, ‘supporting people and places to drive growth’, illustrates the essential role tourism plays in supporting local economies and creating jobs across the country.

Kim Johnson MP said:

“I had a great time visiting The Beatles Story at the Albert Dock during English Tourism Week. The Beatles Story provides a real immersive insight into how the band became a global phenomenon, the museum welcomes thousands of international visitors every year, it is one on the city’s most popular visitor attractions. Thanks to Mary and Diane for such a pleasurable visit and the amazing work they and all their staff do for making The Beatles Story a great place to visit.”

Mary Chadwick, General Manager of The Beatles Story, said:

“It was a pleasure to welcome Kim Johnson to The Beatles Story. We’re proud that our work within the tourism sector supports the local economy of Liverpool and the region, and it is great to see Kim Johnson and others recognise tourism’s major contribution to the wider economy of the UK. We see English Tourism Week as an opportunity to showcase the value of our sector and highlight how continued government support can ensure its growth and success.”

Antony Amos, Head of Business Development and Membership, UKinbound said:

“Attractions like The Beatles Story are hugely important to England’s tourism industry and do a fantastic job welcoming international visitors from around the world. It is great to see MPs such as Kim Johnson engaging with businesses in our industry and acknowledging the important role they play supporting regional economies.”

In 2023, 33.5 million international visitors visited England, spending £26.6 billion.

English Tourism Week runs from 14 – 23 March 2025 and is a campaign run by VisitEngland to celebrate the diverse, exciting and vibrant sector, and highlight the quality and value of the English tourism offer.
