New Brighton RNLI lifeboat crew swap alarm bells for wedding bells

By The Guide Liverpool

New Brighton RNLI had a training exercise with a difference yesterday as two of the crew got engaged whilst aboard!

The volunteer crew started out with their usual training exercise, however, things took a slightly different twist with the lifeboat being launched and taking a route back towards the shore.
It was at this point that New Brighton RNLI volunteer Tom McGinn decided to pop the question and proposed whilst aboard the lifeboat to his now fiancé Emily Craven.
Emily of course said yes and the event was made extra special with family members looking on from the shore to witness the wonderful event.
Tom and Emily have been together for four years to the day of the proposal. They met whilst work working together in a bowling alley and Tom has volunteered with New Brighton RNLI for three years and Emily for two.

A spokesman for New Brighton RNLI said:

‘Everyone at the station would like to pass on their congratulations to the newly engaged couple and wish them both every success and happiness in their new journey together.’
