A brand-new, boundary-pushing music and arts festival is set to shake up Liverpool’s cultural scene this May.
OUTER WAVES Festival will debut on 24 & 25 May 2025, taking over Invisible Wind Factory and Make Liverpool for two days of immersive performances, experimental arts, and cutting-edge collaborations.
Designed to fill a cultural gap in Liverpool’s festival landscape, OUTER WAVES draws inspiration from the city’s underground music and art heritage, championing grassroots creativity while welcoming international artists and audiences.
Unlike traditional festivals, OUTER WAVES will blend live music, visual arts, interactive performances, and educational initiatives, delivering a fully immersive experience. The event will transform Liverpool’s North Docks into a hub of creative expression, showcasing some of the most exciting alternative and experimental acts from across the UK and beyond.
First wave of artists announced:
- Gong
- Ex-Easter Island Head
- Mandy, Indiana
- AJA Ireland
- Abstract Concrete
- Silverwingkiller
- Coughin Vicars
- Those Holy

With more acts and commissioned projects still to be announced, the festival is set to be a must-attend event for fans of underground and experimental music.
OUTER WAVES is not just about two days of performances – it is about long-term cultural and community development. Organisers have already confirmed that the festival will expand to a three-day event in 2026, cementing its place in Liverpool’s ever-evolving creative landscape.
The festival has gained support from Liverpool City Region, Fatsoma, and The Musicians’ Union.
Keep an eye out for upcoming announcements as OUTER WAVES unveils more groundbreaking performances, art installations, and interactive experiences over the coming months.
