New independent coffee shop ‘Sips & Stories’ brings seriously good brews to Smithdown Road

Sips & Stories, a gorgeous new speciality coffee shop, has just opened its doors on Smithdown Road, and it’s already serving up some delicious treats.

Brought to life by Greek duo Anestis Gaitanidis and Dimitrios Samaras, Sips & Stories is all about top-quality coffee, warm community spirit, and food that hits the spot – whether you’re stopping in for your morning flat white or a mid-afternoon pick-me-up.

Working closely with Wirral-based roasters Adams & Russell – known for their ethical sourcing and award-winning blends – Sips & Stories is pouring a rotating selection of single-origin beans alongside a house blend that’s scooped Great Taste Awards, including as recently as 2024. Expect everything from deep, chocolatey South American brews to fruity African roasts, with the flavour line-up changing monthly so there’s always something new to try.

And it’s not just about the coffee. The food menu is next-level too, with savory pastries like spinach & feta or chicken & veg, bagels stacked with turkey and cream cheese, and an irresistible line-up of sweet treats that includes plant-based cinnamon buns, pastel de nata, cardamom buns, cruffins and gooey brownies. Basically, you’ll need more than one visit to make your way through the menu.

Open Wednesday to Sunday, Sips & Stories is all about creating a relaxed space to sip, snack and share stories – something that’s close to the heart of co-founder Anestis, who grew up immersed in the Greek café culture where every coffee is a reason to pause, connect and catch up. He said, “Sips & Stories was born out of a genuine love for coffee, connection and community. Our goal is to create a space where our guests can savour their perfect sip, enjoy a pastry of their choice and meet new and familiar faces.”

His co-founder Dimitrios added:

“After perfecting our menu, service and style, we’re excited to welcome guests from Liverpool and beyond to explore our coffee selection – and keep coming back as we rotate our guest flavours each month.”
