New restaurant MADRE is bringing Tacos & Tequila to the Albert Dock
4 years ago

The talented team behind esteemed Liverpool restaurants Belzan and Volpi, and London street food enthusiasts Breddos Tacos, are excited to announce their new restaurant, MADRE, will be opening at Royal Albert Dock Liverpool on Saturday 7th December 2019.
Large neon signs will indicate MADRE’s entrance, in the Dock’s Anchor Courtyard which is also home to the Pie Port, Puffle Waffle and Escape Hunt.
Split over two floors with a 48-cover restaurant on the mezzanine level and casual dining area downstairs, MADRE will serve lunch through to dinner and a late-night snack selection at the weekends when the restaurant will be open until late.
Downstairs guests can feast on a variety of Mexican inspired snacks, tacos and tostadas, whilst upstairs a variety of larger plates will also be on offer, perfect for sharing with friends. The diverse menu will offer something to suit all tastes including plenty of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options, with all dishes designed to be accessible, fun and big on flavour.
Examples of the menu include:
TACOS
Pork Al Pastor – spit roast marinated pork, pineapple, chile de arbol, salsa verde
Hongos con chipotle – Deep fried mushroom, chipotle aioli, roasted pasilla chile, salsa negra
Pollo pibil – Yucatan style chicken slow cooked chicken, achiote, orange, habanero, pickled red onions
TO SHARE
Contramar style sea bass a la talla – Grilled butterflied sea bass, salsa verde, salsa roja
Carne Asada charcoal grilled steak – Aged native breed wing rib, burnt spring onion, jalapenos, beef jus & bone marrow
The drinks list is designed by the award-winning team behind Belzan and Volpi, comprising a stellar list of Margaritas, craft beers, and natural wines – to wash down tacos late into the evening.
A large feature bar will take centre stage downstairs, the ideal spot to pull up a chair for a post-work drink with friends or pre-dinner cocktail, and on weekends guests can enjoy DJ sets and live music until 2am.
Just as the Dock’s Britannia Pavilion has become a foodie-haven comprising some of the city’s finest independent restaurants such as Maray, Rosa’s Thai Cafe and the soon to open Lerpwl, new additions to Anchor Courtyard will set it on the map of Liverpool’s drinking and dining destinations for 2020.
With its spacious courtyard and unique food and drink offering, which includes pies and mash at Pie Port, indulgent sweet treats at Puffle Waffle, and now Mexican dishes from MADRE, Anchor Courtyard offers an alternative spot for drinking and dining al fresco in the warmer months, away from the crowds yet just a stone’s throw from the city centre and M&S Bank Arena.
