On 17th September 2023 at 2pm Maghull Wind Orchestra will be filling the Philharmonic Hall with “The Magic of Music from Stage and Screen” in what promises to be a fantastic musical experience for young and old alike.
This wonderful concert will be a celebration of both Maghull Wind Orchestra’s 45th anniversary as well as the 75th birthday of the NHS.
The community-based orchestra which welcomes musicians of all abilities without requiring them to pass an audition has been entertaining audiences since 1978 and presently has around 80 members.
Chair of MWO, Kate Warriner shared:
“I am delighted that MWO will be back at the Liverpool Philharmonic to celebrate our 45th anniversary and the 75th birthday of the NHS. The concert will be a fantastic celebration event and one definitely not to miss.”
Following on from a hugely successful concert at the Philharmonic five years ago to celebrate their 40th anniversary the orchestra have decided to perform on this famous stage again. The band are looking forward to being joined on the day by a massed choir from Maghull and the surrounding area. The choir will include children from The Trinity Catholic Academy, St Andrew’s Maghull CE Primary, Maghull High School and singers from the local Maghull community. MWO are also delighted to be working in collaboration with Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital Charity for this fantastic concert. A much-loved local charity raising funds for groundbreaking treatments.
Under conductor Phil Shotton the orchestra will play a wide variety of pieces including world premier performances of new arrangements written by the orchestra’s own Adam Dutch, Dave Matthews and Glenn Waite.
Phil said:
“This will be an incredible concert, packed full of music that you will recognise from the world of stage and screen. The power of the wind orchestra, combined with the choirs is simply epic and will transport you on an incredible journey through some of the best loved movie and musical themes. You can expect drama, excitement, romance and a dash of good humour in a concert that is designed to suit everyone of all ages and musical tastes.”
