NSPCC to host Carols by Candlelight at Liverpool’s Metropolitan Cathedral
2 years ago
Tickets are on sale now for the NSPCC Carols By Candlelight event at Liverpool’s Metropolitan Cathedral.
The annual event – sponsored by Home Bargains – is one of the city’s major fundraisers for the charity, which was founded in Liverpool and has a base at The Hargreaves Centre in Great Homer Street.
This year’s Carols By Candlelight concert will take place on Tuesday, December 6, and features performances by acts from across Merseyside including PopVox, Metropolitan Cathedral Youth Choir, Connected Voices Choir and Wirral Schools’ Concert Band.
Janette Drew, NSPCC Community Fundraiser for the North West and Cumbria, said she was looking forward to this year’s spectacular Carols By Candlelight.
She said: “Recent months have been difficult for children and families here in Liverpool and across the country. I’ve been inspired by the resilience the Merseyside community has shown, and it’s wonderful to offer an evening of festive entertainment which will be a highlight for the community but also raise vital funds for the NSPCC.
“Our staff and volunteers working out of the Hargreaves Centre work flat out to ensure we and our Childline service can support children and families whenever they need help. Every £4 raised by events like Carols By Candlelight represents one Childline call we can answer, so by joining us for an evening of festive entertainment, you can help us be here for more children.”
Organisers are also looking for volunteers to lend a hand on the night.
Janette added: “We’re hoping anyone with a few hours to spare on the evening of December 6 will help us put on this magical event.
“It will be light duties such as checking tickets, handing out programmes and candles, helping with the bucket collection and a quick tidy up at the end of the night.
“Any help will be greatly appreciated, and you’ll get to enjoy the great music on the night!”
Tickets to Carols By Candlelight cost £10 for adults, children and under-16s go free when accompanied by an adult, and the performance runs between 7pm and 8.30pm.
