It’s about to get hot in the city and taking inspiration from its NYC décor, North John Street’s NYL Restaurant & Bar has launched a new menu of delicious and varied small plates plus some thirst-quenching cocktails to say cheers to summer dining.
The former Royal Insurance Building, which also houses Aloft Hotel, has gained many fans for its New York Afternoon Tea, the city’s first Bottomless Gin & Tonic Brunch and generous Sunday lunch. As summer makes a welcome return, NYL invites you to dine on lighter dishes such as king prawn and chorizo skewers, pizettes, straw fries, brisket meatballs and beetroot risotto, from the new menu launching on Saturday 1st June 2019.
That’s not all. Alongside more than 30 different dishes – perfect for mixing up when you fancy a bit of everything! – there’s also 6 new indulgent desserts joining the summer menu. Key lime pie, banana bread and coconut cream go right to the top of our list!
NYL Restaurant & Bar have literally set the bar when it comes to cocktails. Launching the city’s first Liverpool Collection Cocktail list last year, drinks such as Liverpool Sunset, The Berry Bevy and The Yellow Rummarine have become firm favourites. But they’re not stopping there. Moving with the times and crafting drinks that are firstly delicious and secondly sustainable is paramount at this Liverpool bar.
Using off-cuts and vegan-friendly ingredients and methods, NYL has now also created a Sustainable cocktail menu that sounds as good as it tastes. And they compliment the small plates menu perfectly. With 7 new concoctions on offer including the Salted Caramel Flip, Iron Man and Vegan White Russian, this is the perfect excuse to get your friends together and raise a glass.
If you’ve never been to NYL Restaurant & Bar, you’re in for a real architectural treat. With high vaulted ceilings, plush décor and a raised exclusive mezzanine level bar, NYL is a real slice of New York in the heart of Liverpool.
Small plates are perfect for summer dining when light bites and as we call them, picky bits, are the perfect tonic. The new menu offers plenty of choice for meat eaters, veggies and dessert lovers. Our top three has to be seared tuna with wasabi mayonnaise, smoky BBQ baby back ribs and pickled onion rings with homemade ketchup.
Crosby Coffee cremeux, brandy snap and blood orange gel tops the brand new dessert menu and if that’s not enough to get you booking a table, wait until you see the others. Apricot and cardamom sponge with stem ginger fudge and Chantilly cream. Oh my days!
We need no excuse to taste test a brand new cocktail menu. With sustainability at its heart, NYL’s brand new cocktail menu includes locally sourced gin, homemade candy floss, dehydrated off cuts from the kitchen such as pineapple, caramel shards and repurposed cans, eliminating use of glassware.
Alongside new, exciting menus and cocktails, NYL Restaurant and Bar kick starts your weekend with RNB Thursdays. From 6pm til late and with resident DJ Spykatcha on the decks, you’re guaranteed to be shaking what your momma gave you, with 241 drinks til 7pm. More here.
